One of our authors – Rabbi Hirshel Jaffe – recently had the opportunity to share his story with the Cancer Support Community of Deleware. He has been called a “living hero” who leads a life of courage and compassion. As a runner, he’s competed in the New York Marathon, earning him the nickname “The Marathon Rabbi”. His 1980 visit to the 52 hostages in Iran was featured in a recent BBC Documentary, on the 40th anniversary of their liberation. He also received the Presidential “Award of Courage” from Ronald Reagan in a White House Rose Garden ceremony.
As a five-time cancer survivor, his battle with a life-threatening illness inspired him to co-author “Why (Not) Me? Searching for God When We Suffer“, the story of his rescue from a rare form of leukemia and his spiritual triumph over despair.
In this video, Rabbi Hirshel Jaffe shares his life experience and the insights he’s gained after facing illness, adversity, and living a fulfilling life. We hope you enjoy his words of wisdom!
