Two Poems
by Janine Phillips
Continuing our celebration of National Poetry Month are two poems by Janine Phillips.
My Friend the Blue Heron
Again he returns, my old friend
Rain… cold, flooding, deep
A bath he decides for today!
Water reaching his belly in the
Brandywine
A branch full and swaying protects his
majestic head
From hard pellets leaving the sky
Taking flight… he must explore
What else today has in store.
Untitled
Driving along~lost in thought
Eyes Wandering
Water flowing over ice
Flashing blue~Who are you?
My river friend~the blue heron
Just as I am flying along life’s road
My blue friend is flying by my side
Shades of blue across the sky
Shades of blue soaring beside…
FLIGHT!
